About the Opportunity
Coastal Source is seeking a versatile and innovative Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Marathon, FL. This is a hands-on, in-person role where you’ll collaborate directly with our VP of Design & Engineering, R&D, and the CEO. What You’ll Do
- Design and develop advanced low-voltage LED lighting systems, custom drivers, dimming interfaces, and control circuits.
- Engineer high-performance audio solutions, including power amplifiers, preamps, and speaker crossover networks.
- Integrate 120V AC systems with lighting and audio infrastructure, ensuring compliance with NEC code and UL standards.
- Create schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, and technical documentation using modern design tools.
- Prototype, test, troubleshoot, and validate electrical systems for performance, durability, and compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—mechanical design, acoustics, manufacturing, and product management.
- Ensure designs meet the unique demands of harsh outdoor environments: salt air, heat, humidity, and hurricane exposure.
- Support prototyping, production, and field deployments, including hands-on installation assistance.

Requirements
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in product development or electrical design.
- Expertise in low-voltage LED lighting (12V/24V), audio amplifier circuits (Class D preferred), and crossover network design.
- Proficient in circuit simulation/design software (Altium Designer, KiCad).
- Skilled with test and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, audio analyzers, thermal cameras).
- Familiar with embedded control systems (PLC, DMX, DALI, 0-10V, Bluetooth, Zigbee).
- Knowledgeable in electrical safety, surge protection, EMI/EMC, thermal management, and environmental sealing.
- Experience with marine-grade/outdoor-rated enclosures, IP ratings, and conformal coatings.
- Background in high-end residential or commercial lighting and audio installations.
